I had a bit of an adventure over the past 24 hours. I got home from working at my internship at 3:30 after fighting my way through a wind storm on the highway, only to find that my power had been taken out by the same storm. My heater runs on electricity instead of gas, so I had a lack of heat as well as lights. This wouldn’t have been too bad if it hadn’t been in the 30’s and falling with wind gusts of 30 mph+. Brrrr. I couldn’t get ahold of anyone in class to stay with them for the night, so I huddled under two comforters and a cat and stayed there until the fix-it guy rigged up a power source for my heater from the building across the street (my house was the only one on the block without power :p) earlier this morning. The regular power kicked on again around noon, so Josie and I are now basking in what passes for the heat of a weak winter sun, amplified by the glow of lovely electric lamps.
My stock of ice cream and related treats sadly passed away in the heat of the freezer. Rest in peace, Edy’s Thin Mint, Haagen-Dazs Caramel Cone, Breyer’s Vanilla and Vanilla/Chocolate mix, and Edy’s Whole Fruit Bars. You will all be sorely missed.
