The tree, as it used to be

The unsuspecting tree (far right) was planted, grew, and flourished. It soaked up the sun and rain. It was the host to numerous birds, cicadas, and the occasional squirrel. Some considered it a nuisance because its branches were weak and blew off in storms. Because of this, its life was taken. Now it is just a stump. Some will mourn its untimely passage, others will not. I am one of the former. I want the tree back!

Classes started up again today. I had Assessment and Intervention with Law Offenders at 10 am and Sensation and Perception at 11 am. I feel a little silly driving the 20 miles to campus and back for a measly two hours of classes, but that’s just the way my schedule worked out this semester. Those two classes go Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Mondays I have the addition of Systems of Psychology at 5 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have Criminal Evidence at 9:30 and Introduction to Psychological Measurement at 12:30. So that’s 15 credit hours, the lightest courseload I’ve ever had, but when the fact that every class is a senior-level course is taken into account, I’ll still end up with as much work as I’ve had with my previous loads of 17 hours or so.

All in all, I’m very glad to be back in school. This has been the longest summer of my little life, both in good and bad ways. I was just aching to get it over with and go back to doing something worthwhile with my time, rather than trudging to and from work then sitting on my ass for the rest of the night doing nothing.

Plus, it doesn’t hurt that this is my last year here. I graduate in May, woooo!

This morning, I woke up, looked at the clock, and thought, “Woo, it’s 20 after, I actually got up on time!” I rolled out of bed, got dressed, and walked to the bathroom. Brushed my teeth, took my allergy medicine, walked out to the kitchen. Put something to drink in my cup, got something to eat, and grabbed my purse. Walked outside. Thought, “It’s really dark out here. What’s up with that?” Walked to my car. Got in the car. Backed out of my spot, turned on the radio, and thought, “That’s not the right DJ for this time of the morning.” Looked at the car’s clock. 1:30. “What?” 1:30. “That can’t be right.” Looked at my cell phone’s clock. 1:30. Growled, walked back inside, got back into my pajamas, and slept for another 5 hours.

Well…it’s semi-fixed. The DVD didn’t skip so badly as it had before, but a few minutes into the movie, it started to be slightly choppy, and by the time I was halfway into the movie, it was so bad that I couldn’t stand it any more and had to finish the movie on my regular DVD player. I’m at a loss now. I hate to send it in for repairs, because this the only computer I have access to until classes begin on the 25th, and once classes begin I’ll need to have it with me. The warranty has just expired, too :(
